Kaalath Thaer (The Wagon of Time) is a collection of poems penned by honest and assertive IAS Officer, Late T.V. Swaminathan. This work is an example for his Excellency in Tamil and proficiency of deep thoughts. Kaalath Thaer is definitely the Wagon which wanders in the path of searching the eternal wisdom. This can be identified from the poet's lines 'Metti Oliththida Maeni Nelinthidum oru Pennin Naattiya Nalinaththilirunthu' and 'Mannithu Kuppai Varum Puzhuthi Entha Mannanin Ponnudal Michchamaanatho?". In some lines he astonishes that "Palthiran Valla Viral Varuda Patha Nisa Sarigam Paadivarum" and somewhere in the middle of this book he made a child to question the Fire that came to burn its mother's body, "Who are you?". The answer told by the fire clearly explains the philosophy of cause of creations in a natural way. These set of poems make our heart tremble with gentle and simple verses with deeper meaning in their soul. "மெட்டி ஒலித்திட மேனி நெளிந்திடும் ஒரு பெண்ணின் நாட்டிய நளினத்திலிருந்து" " மண்ணிது குப்பை வெறும் புழுதி எந்த மன்னனின் பொன்னுடல் மிச்சமிதோ" என்ற ஒரு ஞானத்தேடல் வரை இந்த காலத்தேர் வித விதமான பாதைகளில் பவனி வரும் கவிதைத் தேர் இது.. இசைத் தூண்களைப் பார்த்து "பண் திறன் வல்ல விரல் வருட பத நிஸ சரிகம பாடிவரும்" என்று வியக்கும் கவிதைகள் அதே நேரத்தில்' "உயிர் வண்டிந்தப் உடல் பூவினை விட்டகலும்' என்று துயரமுடன்அங்கலாய்க்கும். தாயார் உடலைக் கருக்க வந்த தீயைப் பார்த்து ஒரு குழந்தை " நீ யார் ? எனக் கேட்கும் ஒரு நிர்மலமான கேள்விக்கு நெருப்பு சொல்லும் பதில் படைப்பின் காரணங்களை வேதாந்தமாகவும் யதார்த்தமாகவும் விரிக்கிறது. எளிமையும் மென்மையும் நிறைந்த இந்த அபூர்வமான கவிதைகள் மனதில் ஒரு அமைதியான அதிர்வுகளை ஏற்படுத்துவது நிதர்சனம்)
